Delve Into the End of the World
Bourdyrne is a soulsborne action RPG called with an emphasis on story and exploration, detailed through concept art, a hand crafted wordmark and a game case mockup design. Set in a time based on the medieval period, the settlement of Dyrne faces the increasing concern of settlers going missing throughout the night. People claim there is no sign of struggle, no traces of the person, and no cause. It is believed that outside forces are at play, and there is a strange tolling bell coming from deep within the cave; It is your job to find the missing victims and to expel the cause of this exodus, if you can.
The typography for the title was created by hand to evoke a subtle combination of "bell, crystal, gothic, runic", the bell being shown vaguely through the "O", the crystals being the negative space between the words and the gothic/runic feel of the letterforms themselves. The idea of Bourdyrnes' name came from a Bourdon bell, which is the heaviest bell in chime with the lowest note, and the old medieval word Dyrne, which translates to "secret, obscure, hidden".
The tone of the game is grim and atmospheric, the entirety of it is deep within the enormous labyrinthian cave that snakes underneath the world, which is shown through the very gritty and textured concept art for one of the first characters you meet called Banuclade; the deeper you get, the bigger the changes to reality.
