This image was created for magazine spread and article regarding the Parris vs META platforms Inc. (Instagram) class action lawsuit in which META violated the Illinois BIPA act for almost a decade by utilizing facial recognition software for curated advertisements without the consent of the users.
The imagery highlights the predatory and inhumane nature of violating the privacy of the users through the idea of a wolf in sheep's clothing, Instagram has a broad audience, so I wanted to pair a recognizable concept with striking imagery so the viewer would stop and investigate the article.
The general charcoal and textured style was to add to the feeling unease, since is psychologically known that visually processing these textures take a second to understand, and so it is wired in our brains to be disruptive and uncertain. and The "Peeka Boo: We See You" was used to keep the theme of common language, but its portrayed in an unsettling manner to drive the idea of the creepiness surrounding the violation of META.
